3 Things I Wish I Knew When I Began My Wellness Journey

A journey to health, happiness and feeling f*cking magical is not linear. It’s a wild a** ride that is filled with twists, turns, setbacks, and plenty of confusion. But WOW, is it worth it. Here are a few things I wish I could have told myself as I was gearing up to step into the most important phase of my life.

Your body is freaking genius, LISTEN TO IT.

It can be very hard to listen to your body over the “experts”. If I listened to the experts, well… let’s just say - I’d have had an unnecessary high dose of radiation, still be dealing with terrible stomach issues and would be thinking my body was “attacking itself”.

When you dive into your wellness journey you’re going to be bombarded with advice.

Although most advice is well-intentioned, every single person is WILDLY different. BUT there are some universals - like eating whole foods are integral and you gotta stay hydrated.

But there will be so many sideline suggestions that may just not be for you. And that’s okay! That’s what makes this journey so explorative, exciting and LIBERATING. Try to take advice as a suggestion, but if your body doesn’t agree with it - it’s okay to not force it.*

*There are exceptions when you quit certain foods like sugar, dairy and caffeine as you could go through serious withdrawal from these highly addictive substances. So feeling like crap at first can lead to positive changes later on. Nothing is absolute - take what I say as a suggestion, too. :)

>>Example: I got my Viome at Home Gut Test done and it said I could eat about 4 oz. of meat a day. But as a woman in her. mid thirties - I felt like I needed more protein so I am going to listen to my body and energy levels over a test. Yes, I’ve been vegan and vegetarian and that can work for people, now I am just focused on how does my body react and feel. Tune in and interpret the messages. My body speaks to me - I listen. (Just to note: My Viome test was SO informative. So not knocking it at all. In fact, you can use code LEEANAROSE for $10 off.)

Also, the most important aspect is you can change your diet, and take the best supplements, but if you don’t DETOX - (you’ll know bc you’ll see huge plaqoids coming out of your body, and many parasites and gallbladder stones) then all that you do will never have a truly profound impact on your health.

DETOXING IS MANDATORY.

Your mind can trick you, KNOW THIS.

They say we have 12,000 - 60,000 thoughts per day. PER DAY. It’s no wonder we have such a hard time with stillness. Our minds are just going on cruise control and we aren’t even behind the wheel. Once I realized our monkey brains and ego had the foot on the gas, I then understood why many of us are hanging on the hood screaming for dear life.

I had to understand the monkey brain and ego is constantly going to be grabbing at the wheel, probably for the rest of my life. But as I also have to acknowledge that when I release thought patterns, I could FEEL the difference. This is life long, daily work.

When I didn’t practice my daily rituals, it was just like heading back into the gym after a long break. The good news is that a setback means you were moving forward on the right path.

Progress takes practice.

>>Example: After a cancer diagnosis it’s really easy to wander into very dark places. I mean, really dark. I learned that our DNA and body on a cellular level responds to our thought patterns. So no way in hell was I going to let THOSE dark thoughts affect my healing journey. When they arise, observe them. Then let them go and replace it with an intentional thought.

“What if I die” became “I am healing with so much life ahead of me”.

Your intuition is always guiding you, TRUST IT.

At first, when you’re flooded with information - it’s hard to know which decisions are best for you. KEEP GOING - this feeling isn’t permanent. Something crazy happens when you “clear your vessel” aka remove toxins and energetic blocks, and learn to harness your mind. As I become more clear and still, the knowing within me got more powerful.

It can be easy to go back into old comfort zones or habits. Radical transformation can be overwhelming at times. But keep asking yourself, is this for my highest good? I mean literally - say that sh*t out loud in the mirror! You may be surprised with how that question gets answered.

If something makes you FEEL off… pay attention! Not everything that’s “good”, is good for YOU.

>>Example: I always had strong gut feelings about situations, but sometimes I would ignore them. Or I would keep myself distracted or out of touch so I wouldn’t hear their cries. As I started to take action on my gut feelings, my intuition became stronger. It helped me avoid some life-threatening situations and truly take the time to listen to what my soul is speaking.

So in short, this is what I’d say to myself in the beginning (in Ryan Gosling’s voice):

Hey girl,

Unbelievable change is on it’s way. Once you stop ignoring yourself, then get in touch with yourself, you will then learn to TRUST yourself.

Now that’s the good sh*t.
